Samsung today announced a new addition to its Galaxy smartphone range, ‘GRAND’. with TFT LCD display, the smartphone offers a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, 2-megapixel front-facing one, Bluetooth 4.0, HSPA+ connectivity and a microSD memory card slot. Apparently, it’s like the Galaxy S II with a bigger screen and less storage (Galaxy S II rocks 16 GB). It also packs a beefy 2100mAh battery. The firm emphasized that the phone is designed in such a way that it could be used for intensive gaming for longer period.

The Grand will ship with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system and will be running Samsung’s TouchWiz interface. It will also include S Voice, multi window mode; Direct Call, AllShare Play, Smart Alert, Popup Play and all the Samsung Hubs. So you can enjoy multitasking and run multiple apps simultaneously and without switching screens using Multi Window feature.

Samsung GALAXY Grand Specs

Samsung’s latest 5-inch Android smartphone will be available in both single (GT-I9080) and dual SIM (GT-I9082) versions so that consumers can easily switch between tariffs with just one touch to stay on the most cost effective plan. Per press release, the Dual SIM version (GT-I9082) will launch first and the single SIM version (GT-I9080) will follow.

So far there is no official word on pricing or an exact release date for Samsung Galaxy Grand. Stay tuned!
