Samsung Galaxy S III (HSPA+ version, GT-i9300) users have just started receiving Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update internationally. As usual, the company is rolling out the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update in phases and if you haven’t received already, you might need to wait for sometime. If your Galaxy S III device is Carrier branded, it might not yet be available for your country or network provider but should arrive very soon.
Samsung has added various features in Android 4.1.2 software update for the Galaxy S III such as Multi-View, customizable notification panel and more. Most of the features are inherited from the Galaxy Note II such as multi-view multitasking feature that allows you to bring up a multi-tasking menu after you hold down the back key – you can then partition your screen display area in “two” to run two applications on-screen simultaneously.
Below is the list of enhancements you’ll notice after installing Android 4.1.2 update on your Galaxy S3 (HSPA+ or GT-I9300) device. You can update your Galaxy S III through Samsung KIES or by using OTA (Over The Air).
Android 4.1.2 Enhancements for Galaxy S3:
-Android 4.1.2 – JZO54K
-Multi-View (Multi-Windows Multitasking, same as in Note II)
-New Gallery App (Same as in Note II)
-Page Buddy (adds additional context-sensitive home screen pages that activate after connecting headphones)
-Notification Panel (Notification Panel can now be customized)
-Smart Rotation (Screen Display adjusts to your angle of sightings)
-Brightness Slider in Notification Panel Can Now Be Disabled
-Continues Input in Samsung Keyboard (Like Swipe or Android 4.2 Keyboard)
-Group Cast App for media sharing
-Paper Artist App
SamMobile has provided direct download link for the Polish version of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update (Build JZO54K); other territories should start to get this update over-the-air and through Samsung Kies desktop application. If not available in Kies, navigate into the settings on the handset and the About phone section, before selecting software updates.
I haven’t received the update on my unlocked version of Samsung Galaxy S3. What about you?
