Apple Patches Evasi0n Jailbreak Exploits in iOS 6.1.3 Beta 2

After testing the evasi0n jailbreak exploits on the latest developer build iOS 6.1.3 beta 2 (10B318), the evad3rs’ David Wang, aka @planetbeing has now confirmed to Forbes that Apple has patched one of the five critical exploits that evasi0n jailbreak tool is currently using in iOS 6.1.3.

Apple Patches Evasi0n Jailbreak Exploits in iOS 6.1.3 Beta 2

Wang tells me that he’s analyzed the 6.1.3 beta 2 update and found that it patches at least one of the five bugs the jailbreak exploits, namely a flaw in the operating system’s time zone settings. The beta update likely signals the end of using evasi0n to hack new or updated devices after the update is released to users, says Wang, who says he’s still testing the patch to see which other vulnerabilities exploited by the jailbreak might no longer exist in the new operating system.

Hacker planetbeing noted that the evad3rs team could find the replacement for the fixed vulnerability, but could be forced to start all over again if Apple continues patch the other four exploits as well. He further stated that the group has already discovered enough exploits in iOS 6.x that will assist them to build a new iOS jailbreak even if all the bugs they currently use are fixed by the company

But then again, Wang says he hasn’t yet been able to check Apple’s patch for every bug it might fix–either the ones evasi0n employs or those he and his fellow hackers had hoped to keep secret for their next jailbreak. “If they patch most of the bugs,” Wang says, “Then we’re starting from scratch”.

DreamJB: Hacker Announces iOS 6.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak for 22 December

A new untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.0.1 under the name “DreamJB” could be released to public on 22 December, just two days before Christmas. According to the iOS hacker, the DreamJB tool will allow users to jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 3 (The New iPad), iPad 4, and iPod Touch 5G. Yes! Per hacker, it is untethered and will support both Windows OS and Mac OS X.

Currently there’s no way to jailbreak the new iPad 4 or iPad mini or the iPhone 5. Both Chronic Dev Team and iPhone Dev Team are hunting for a bug that could get them past of legal hurdle they are facing for public distribution. Yes! Untethered jailbreak (one that will happily survive a reboot) has been achieved but in the works, and this may take longer – may be few months. Nevertheless, Dev Teams have made a promising start and it could take time for the untethered jailbreak to arrive. There is no ETA being shared about iOS 6 A5/A5X/A6/A6X jailbreak developments.

Right now you can jailbreak the iPhone 3GS (New bootrom), iPhone 4, and the iPod touch 4G on iOS 6 using Redsn0w tool, but for now, it’s a tethered one. Only iPhone 3GS on old bootrom can be jailbroken un-tethered for life.

We have a little hope about the DreamJB jailbreak. Will the hacker stand by his word? What do you think?
